Stone craftsmanship is a living heritage in India. Stone has been a prominent building material and also a foremost medium for creating some of the famous architectural edifices and art works in history. Adopting very interesting local traditions, this enduring art has passed through many transitions since its origins, development and the present state of gradual decline. Techniques and treatments mainly hand tooling, developed over the period dominated and defined the material usage.
Vaastu Vidhaan along with archaeologist & Research Expert Swapna Joshi conducted a workshop to explore the different types of stone craftsmen techniques and the local terminologies attached to them prevalent in the geographical region of Maharashtra.
