Icon This building was originally constructed by the British Bank of Middle East in 1913. In later years it was taken over by the Mercantile Bank, then the HSBC, and is now owned by ICPL. It is a fine example of a Neo Classical style of architecture, typical elements of which can be seen in the form of ornamental pediments, corinthian capitals, pilasters and elaborate cornices and moulding details. The imposing façade of this structure makes it a prominent commercial building in the heritage precinct. It is classified as a Grade II A heritage structure.
